Stay Busy on New Year’s Day
Welcome to 2019, everyone! January 1 is full for free activities to get you moving this year, and exploring our wonderful city. Check out these free activities on New Year’s Day.
Don’t forget—if you’re going out New Year’s Eve, you can get a free Trimet ride starting at 8 p.m.
Head to McMenamins rustic Rock Creek Tavern for live music starting at 7 p.m. Bring your own instrument and join in!
Learn all the beginner moves at this free salsa class at two locations: Hillsboro (230 E Main St) and Portland (1850 SW River Dr.). The classes start at 7 p.m.
Ecliptic Brewery hosts free brewery tours at 12 p.m. on Tuesdays.
At 12 p.m., join a community 15-mile ride starting with a free cup of coffee at Nossa Familia Coffee (2007 SE Division St.) and ending at Hopworks Urban Brewery (3947 N Williams Ave.), where participants can enjoy $1 off beer.
Portland has some wonderful, and free, urban parks waiting for you to explore them. Find a park near your neighborhood.
The Wy’est Wolfpack is hosting a free 5k run loop starting at Dossier downtown and ending with a free mimosa at Dossier’s Rosa Rosa. Be ready to go at 11 a.m.
State parks in Oregon and Washington are encouraging people to get outside on January 1. Certain parks will be hosting free guided first day hikes, and all Washington park entrance fees.
