Journey back in time at Kennedy School’s History and Art Tour.
Since its 1915 opening, this historic elementary school has been a beloved fixture of Portland. It now boasts guest rooms, a restaurant, multiple small bars, a movie theater, gift shop and a brewery. If you’re looking for a relaxing activity, visit the Kennedy School soaking pools.
On top of all that, Kennedy School hosts events all year long.

Kennedy School’s History and Art Tour
Relive those school-day memories with a grown-up twist at McMenamins Kennedy School. Grab a pint and join the weekly History and Art Tour, a fun journey through time.
Once an elementary school, Kennedy School has since been transformed into one of Portland’s most unique community gathering spots. From chalkboards to beer taps, every hallway and classroom tells a story—filled with rich history, local art and a few surprises along the way.
During the tour, learn about the school’s quirky past, its creative rebirth and the many ways it continues to serve the community.
Tour Schedule
Tours are held on Saturdays and Sundays at 4 p.m. Currently, tours are available May 17-June 29, 2025.
The tour meets outside the gift shop and runs approximately 60 to 75 minutes.
Tickets
Tickets are $15 and all ages are welcome. Everyone children 3 and older require a ticket.
To buy tickets, visit McMenamins’ event page, choose “Tours” from the filter by type dropdown and then choose your date.
