Celebrate a special Chinese holiday at Lan Sun Chinese Garden’s Mid-Autumn Festival Moonlight Market.
The Mid-Autumn Festival celebrates the harvest moon during the autumnal equinox. In Chinese culture, the image of a full moon symbolizes a happy family reunion.
Lan Su Chinese Garden is hosting three nights of the moonlight market during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Here’s what you can enjoy at this upcoming event:
Mid-Autumn Festival Moonlight Market at Lan Su Chinese Garden
The Mid-Autumn Festival Moonlight Market is Saturday, August 31, and Sunday, September 1, from 2-9 p.m.
Explore a bustling marketplace featuring local Asian businesses, traditional food and fun cultural performances and activities.
As the sun sets, the lantern lights will shine bright as you enjoy illuminated lion dances, moon rabbit meet and greet, traditional stories, and the rabbit lantern sculptures from China.
Activities at the Mid-Autumn Festival include:
- Local food, merchandise and nonprofit vendors.
- Mid-Autumn rabbit lantern viewing.
- Daytime and illuminated lion dances.
- Moon rabbit meet and greet.
- Mid-autumn story time.
- Chinese music demonstration.
- Chinese calligraphy demonstration.
Tickets
Tickets are $27 for adults, $20 for seniors 62+, $18 for students 18+, and $15 for kids ages 6-18. Kids 5 and under attend for free.
If you are an EBT cardholder, a limited quantity of $10 tickets will be available at Lan Su ticket booth. Show your EBT card at the ticket booth for up to four per cardholder.
Free Performance
To kick off the festival, there is a lion dance at the Lan Su entry plaza at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 31. This performance is free to attend.
