Celebrate fall and fungi at Tryon Creek Natural Area.
Located in Southwest Portland, Tryon Creek is one of Portland’s best urban parks. This beautiful natural area is a great example of our temperate rainforest climate: trees covered in moss with huge ferns lining the trails that lead to the creek. There are also free guided hikes every week!
The natural area also hosts many outdoor events, including Mushroom Mania.
Mushroom Mania at Tryon Creek Natural Area
Mushroom Mania is Sunday, October 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Explore Tryon Creek’s forest and learn about local fungi at this family-friendly event.
The event features hands-on table with edible species, crafts and face painting, a scavenger hunt and educational hikes.
Guided hikes are at 10 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. Also, there’s a ranger presentation about safety, identification and foraging tips at 11 a.m.
No registration is required to participate in the free activities. Parking in the main lot is $10.
Tryon Creek Natural Area is located at 11321 S Terwilliger Blvd. in Portland. For more information, visit Friends of Tryon Creek’s website.
