Portland has lots of free and cheap events on New Year’s Eve. But a quiet night a home can be just as fun. The New Year’s Eve ball drop at Times Square in New York City is one of the most iconic ways to celebrate no matter where you are in the U.S. Plus, there are several ways to watch. How to Watch the 2024 New Year’s Eve Ball Drop in Times Square
Aside from being there in person, there are a few ways you can easily watch the show from the comfort of your home:
What Channel is the New Year’s Eve Ball Drop On?
Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2024 is broadcast on ABC. The local ABC affiliate in Portland is KATU Channel 2. According to KATU’s broadcast schedule, the show starts at 8 p.m.
How to livestream the NYE celebration.
If you don’t have cable, a digital antenna or even a TV, you can easily stream the live webcast. It will begin at 3 p.m. PST at Times Square’s website. This livestream includes live, open captions and American Sign Language interpretation.

Want to watch an event closer to home? Tune in to the New Year’s Eve fireworks display at the Space Needle. The broadcast starts at 11:30 p.m. and can be viewed on KGW, online or via streaming apps.
