Romance readers are taking over downtown Portland this weekend.
The first Romancing Portland convention takes place September 11–13 at The Sentinel, bringing romance and romantasy authors, panels, workshops, book shopping and special events together for an adults-only weekend centered around all things romance.
While the lowest-priced $30 Shopper tickets have already sold out, there is still a less-expensive way to attend without buying the full $170 day pass.
Here’s what’s included and how to attend for the lowest price.
Romancing Portland
Romancing Portland is a boutique convention for romance readers featuring author appearances, book signings, panels, workshops, vendors and special events.
The event is 18+.
Guests include romance and romantasy authors such as Alexandra Vasti, Alisha Rai, Analeigh Sbrana, Chelsea Cole, Emily Rath, Katee Robert, Kimberly Lemming, Kristin Cast, P.C. Cast, Rebekah Weatherspoon, S.A. MacLean, Sara Raasch and Taylor J. LaRue.
Actor Ben Barnes is also appearing Sunday for a main stage panel and separately ticketed meet-and-greet opportunities.
You can view the current guest lineup here.
The Cheapest Romancing Portland Ticket
If you simply want to browse books and vendors, the original $30 Shopper Ticket was the cheapest option, but those tickets are currently sold out.
The next tier is the $60 Shopper Plus Ticket for either Saturday or Sunday.
Shopper Plus includes:
- Author Alley
- Vendor Marketplace
- Non-main-stage panels
- Workshops, although some may charge separately for supplies
It does not include most main-stage author, narrator or special guest programming.
For comparison, regular Saturday or Sunday admission is $170 and includes a wider slate of programming, author signings, panels, workshops and lunch.
Premium three-day admission is $350.
Ticket availability is changing quickly, so check the current Romancing Portland pricing and ticket options before making plans.
