Stream Movies for Free with Your Library Card
Before we get into the list, let’s remind ourselves how much we spend on our streaming services.
- Hulu is $9.99 a month.
- Netflix is $6.99 a month.
- Max is $9.99 a month.
- Amazon Prime Video is $14.99 a month.
It really starts to add up, doesn’t it? Or maybe you’re lucky enough to get your services for free by using someone else’s account. Now you have a reason to thank them.
If you’re looking to save on your subscriptions this year, try one of these services offered by Multnomah County Library.
Multnomah County Library Streaming Services
With your Multnomah County Library card, you can access two streaming services.
Hoopla is a collection of streaming videos, digital comics and music available instantly. Here’s how the digital “check out” works for each category of streaming:
- Movies and TV shows for three days.
- Music albums for seven days.
- Digital comics for 21 days.
There is a limit of ten items per person each month. The limit resets on the first of the month.
You also have access to Kanopy, which features a collection of classic, documentary and independent films. With this service, you get 20 tickets per person, per month. The number of tickets needed to play a video ranges from 0-5. The viewing period 48 or 72, depending on the film.
Best of all, automatic returns (or expiration of what you’re streaming) means you’ll never have to worry about late fees.
