April 28 is Teach Your Children to Save Day. In celebration, teach your child to save by taking advantage of the many valuable resources provided by local credit unions.
#OnPointSaver Contest
Through April 30, teens ages 13 to 18 can enter to win $100 from OnPoint Community Credit Union. All you have to do is connect with OnPoint on social media, snap a money-saving photo at an OnPoint location, share and tag the photo on an OnPoint channel. See official terms and conditions.
National Youth Savings Challenge
In celebration of National Credit Union Youth Month, kids and teens that make a deposit into their OnPoint savings account are eligible to enter a drawing to win one of five $100 savings deposits. Make sure you enter before the end of April.
Biz Kids TV Series
Biz Kids teaches kids how to handle money responsibly. The FREE online TV series has episodes on money and business, as well as fun and interactive math and money games that focus on basic money management skills.
Trailhead Teen Club
Teens 13 to 17 are eligible to join Trailhead Credit Union’s Trailhead Teen Club. Being in the club gives kids access to low fixed rates on auto loans, free checking, the chance to win a college scholarship and more.
uSavers Kids Club
Ages 5 to 12 are welcome to join the Unitus Community Credit Union uSavers Kids Club. Unitus has many resources for kids, including Googolplex. The online magazine offers fun and educational money management games, videos and stories for elementary, middle and high school ages.
Oregonians’ Youth and Teen Accounts
The financial needs of teenagers is different than those of kids. Oregonians Credit Union has account programs for children ages 12 and under and 13 to 17. The teen account includes higher return on savings, scholarship program, first time auto buyers program and more. Aside from a saving account, the Saver Hounds Kids Club incentivizes 12 and under club members with Saver Hounds Punch Card. For a deposit over $10, club members earn one punch. For every eight punch card deposits, club members can exchange their punch card for a prize.
