As the cool fall days take over the Portland metro, a cozy blanket and a good book beckons. Get all of your rainy day reading material in one place at the Fall Used Book Sale.
The Friends of the Multnomah County Library hosts this event every year as a benefit for, you guessed it, the Multnomah County Library. Here’s what is in store for the 2022 book sale.
Get $2 Books at the Fall Used Book Sale
This sale features more than 65,000 items at low prices. Hardcover and paperbacks start at $2. Mass market paperbacks, children’s books, comic books, vinyl records, CDs, sheet music, maps, and pamphlets start at $1. DVDs start at $2. You can also find graphic novels, audio books, and video games.
The Collector’s Corner/Top Shelf on Friday and Saturday offers a variety of unusual and rare finds, including iconic children’s book authors and illustrators, academic titles, books on literature, a collection of Japanese naval warfare books, Oregon high school and college yearbooks, and other ephemera. Top Shelf books include a hand picked collect of fiction and non-fiction in pristine condition.
As you begin gathering the books you want to buy, you can drop them off at the Book Depot and continue to browse while volunteers total your purchase to expedite checkout. This is available on Friday and Saturday.
The sale is free to attend, and is taking place October 28-31, 2022. Each day of the sale will feature special events and offerings. Check out the full schedule:
- Friday, October 28, 6-9 p.m.—Members-Only Pre-Sale and Collector’s Corner/Top Shelf
- Saturday, October 29, 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.—General Sale and Collector’s Corner/Top Shelf
- Sunday, October 30, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.—Educators Discount Day, 50% off with valid school ID
- Monday, October 31, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.—Shopper’s Choice, 50% off everything or $25 per box (boxes provided)
This event is free to attend. Friday night is Friends of the Multnomah Library members only. If you’d like to become a member, you can join or renew your membership in advance at friends-library.org.
The Fall Used Books Sale is at the Lloyd Center DoubleTree Hotel Exhibit Hall, 1000 NE Multnomah St. in Portland. The event is easily accessible by bus or MAX. If you park onsite, make sure you ask for a $3 discounted parking voucher at the event.
