Lan Su Chinese Garden is hosting weekend events that honor these traditions and invite you to participate in the festivities. You may also enjoy the Winter Solstice Celebration at Leach Botanical Garden.

December 9, 10, 16 and 17 from 1-3 p.m.
Lan Su Chinese Garden invites you to join the Tangyuan vs. Jiaozi showdown on select weekends in December.
Tangyuan are small round balls made of rice flour with sesame, red bean paste and sweets. These treats symbolize family reunion and prosperity. Jiaozi are dumplings that originate from Northern China. The ear shape is believed to maintain good health.
During the weekend, you can try samples of both and cast your vote for your favorite. If your choice wins, you’ll be entered into a drawing for a $25 restaurant voucher.
You can also capture the fun with a photo op featuring your favorite plushie, Tangyuan or Jiaozi.
December 22-23 from 2-7 p.m.
The festivities culminate in the mesmerizing Light Up Lan Su! event with garden hours extended to 7 p.m. As dusk falls, Lan Su Chinese Garden transforms into a breathtaking wonderland of lights and community spirit. Guests play an active role, lighting the garden with glowing lanterns to create an enchanting atmosphere.
Also, you can cast your vote for Tangyuan vs. Jiaozi, have a photo op with plushie Tangyuan or Jiaozi and enjoy live music performances.
