Winter Village Skating at Orenco Station: A Beloved Holiday Tradition Returns

Winter cheer is in the air as Hillsboro’s Winter Village at Orenco Station makes its long-awaited return!

This year, the Jerry Willey Plaza at Orenco Station transforms into a festive covered outdoor ice skating rink, bringing joy and holiday spirit to the community for the first time since 2019.

Here’s how to join in on the fun:

Winter Village Skating at Orenco Station

The Winter Village at Orenco Station opens from November 30, 2024, through January 12, 2025. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday. Skating closes on Christmas and New Year’s Day. 

Skate sessions are available at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Arrive 15 minutes early to secure your spot.

Admission

All tickets must be purchased in person on the day of your skate session. Space is limited to 55 people per session, and it’s first come, first served.

These prices include skate rental.

• $19 for general admission.
• $16 for children 10 and under.
• Free for children 3 and under.
• Also, it is $5 to rent a bobby skate aid.

Themed Skate Fridays

Make your visit extra fun by attending on one of these themed nights:

December 6: Nutcracker Friday. Twirl to Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite in your favorite tutu.

December 13: Grinch Friday. Embrace your inner Whoville spirit or channel your inner Grinch—costumes encouraged.

December 20: Ugly Holiday Sweater Friday. Show off your most festive or funny holiday sweater while skating to seasonal tunes.

December 27: Sensory Friendly Friday. Enjoy a calmer skating experience with low music and adjusted lighting, perfect for individuals with sensitivities.

January 3: Frozen Friday. Skate like royalty to the songs of Frozen—costumes welcome.

January 10: 80s Throwback Friday. Pull out your leg warmers and big hair to rock out to 80s hits!

The ice skating rink is at Jerry Willey Plaza at Orenco Station, 943 NE Orenco Station Loop in Hillsboro.

The MAX blue line drops you off right in front of the plaza. Also, there is limited street parking is available, or you can park at the Rowlock or Vector garages. The first two hours are free when you display a ticket in your car window.
