The Human Access Project hosts a special grand opening party for new waterfront recreation at Cathedral Park. Participate in an afternoon of fun at the Cathedral Park River Fest.
This celebration marks a significant milestone in the ongoing effort to restore and enhance the recreational value of Cathedral Park Beach. More than 150 tons of concrete has been removed from the river’s edge, making way for a cleaner and more accessible waterfront. Since the initial cleanup, a new dock has been built and additional debris has been removed.
This project creates a vibrant river recreation playground for all to enjoy this summer.

Cathedral Park River Fest
Cathedral Park River Fest is Saturday, June 29, from 2-8 p.m. at Cathedral Park in St. Johns. Free festivities are held on the beach, dock and grass areas.
The event features a variety of fun and engaging activities for attendees of all ages.
Music: Groove to the funky and soulful sounds of Snack and Red Leathers from 4-8 p.m.
Free Swimming Lessons: Black Swimming Initiative ensures everyone can safely enjoy the water from 2-3:30 p.m.
Free Kayak Rentals: Get out on the water, courtesy of Mosquito Fleet.
Ribbon Cutting: Join the special ceremony from 3:30-4 p.m.
Life Jacket Giveaway: Get a free life jacket courtesy of Metro.
BBQ: Enjoy delicious food prepared by JP.
Community Booths: Learn more about local organizations and initiatives.
The festival is at Cathedral Park, N Edison Street and Pittsburg Avenue, in Portland. Street parking is available or you can take public transit to the park.
