Join Portland Families at Cheap PDX Events for Preschoolers
Need to get out of the house with your little one? Portland has the right event for you. Whether your child is 0 or 6, below are budget-friendly weekly classes for every preschool age.
Baby & Me Yoga—Southeast
Ages 6 weeks to crawl
Alma Education and Movement Space hosts Baby & Me Yoga from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursdays. This is a donation-based class, $5-15 suggested.
Preschool Play and Skate—Southeast
Ages 6 and under
Get your kids up and moving at Oaks Amusement Park. The skating playtime focuses on following directions and body awareness. Kids also enjoy snack time and meeting Chipper the Squirrel. The event takes place Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Child’s admission is $6.75, includes skate rental and one adult FREE.
Honeybee Hikes—Southeast
Ages 2 to 5
Put on your tennis shoes, grab your favorite hiking stick and head to Leach Botanical Garden. Explore the garden, work in the Children’s Discovery Garden, listen to a story and make a craft. Visit on Wednesdays from 10 to 11 a.m. The cost is $3 per child. Adults and non-walkers FREE.
Ukulele Open Play & Drop-In Classes—Southwest
Ages 0 to 36 months
Who says adults don’t get to have some fun, too? Bring your uke and participate in a 30-minute, low-key adult ukulele lesson while your swaddler or toddler plays in a space designed for young children. Come to learn a new instrument or enjoy live music with your little one at Upper Westside Play Gym on Thursdays at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Cost is $5.
Pajama Time—East
Ages 0 to 6
Head to the Fairview-Columbia Library for stories, songs and fun. Pajamas and bedtime buddies welcome. This event is FREE every Monday from 6:30 to 7 p.m. No library card required.
Story Times—Northeast
Ages 0 and up
Visit Green Bean Books on Sundays and Tuesdays at 11 a.m., and Thursdays at 3:30 p.m. for themed story time and crafts. This event is FREE.
Drop In Play—St. Johns
Ages 0 to 5
Children are welcome to explore the Imagination Playground, create art in the craft room or read a book in the library at St. Johns Swapnplay. Stop by on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. FREE for infants under 1 and adults, $7 for first child and $5 for each additional child.
Toddler Time—Southwest
Ages 0 to 3
Bring little ones in to The Craft Factory on Fridays from 10 to 11 a.m. Your child can make two ornamental crafts for $5.
Ladybug Nature Walks—Various Locations
Ages 2 to 5
Spot ladybugs, butterflies and more with the City of Portland Parks & Recreation’s Ladybug Walks. Explore multiple parks throughout Portland on Thursdays and Fridays at 10 a.m. until mid-November. See the 2017 schedule for park locations and meeting spots. This is a donation-based event, $4 suggested.
