Every month, The Clackamas Bookshelf brings fellow bibliophiles together for a 50-Cent Book Sale. Here’s your chance to stock up on titles for cheap while supporting a local cause.
The Clackamas Bookshelf provides free books to low-income children in Clackamas County. Since 2014, the nonprofit has distributed more than 239,000 books.
Here’s how you can participate in the monthly book sales:
The Clackamas Bookshelf’s 50-Cent Book Sale
The Clackamas Bookshelf’s 50-Cent Book Sale takes place on the select days each month at Walter L Kraxberger Middle School.
The event features more than 28,000 books for 50 cents or less.
Categories include adult, young adult and children’s fiction in a variety of genres, large print books, nonfiction history, travel, science, and biographies along with cookbooks, craft, gardening, self help and more.
Here’s when you can stock up on books:
2026 Book Sale Schedule
Sunday, January 25, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Saturday, February 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Sunday, March 15, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Sunday, May 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Saturday, June 27, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Book Donations
Feel free to bring books to donate with you to the sale. Books can also be dropped off at Les Schwab Tire Center, 10602 SE Highway 212 in Clackamas.
Keep in mind, the nonprofit does not accept encyclopedias, magazines, dictionaries, school yearbooks, Readers Digest, bibles, audiobooks, textbooks older than 10 years, and DVDs/CDs.
New and gently-used children’s books go directly to local children. All other books are sold at the monthly sales.
