Is daylight saving time ending in Oregon?
Oregon has a multiyear legislative history of trying, and failing, to end daylight saving time.
In 2019, the Oregon Legislature approved a bill to keep the state permanently on daylight saving time. Yet, it never received the Congressional approval required.
The latest attempt was Senate Bill 1548. In February 2024, a 15-15 vote resulted in the bill failing on the chamber floor. Lawmakers concluded that Oregon making the change would cause confusion for people who travel to and from neighboring states.
Yet, hope is not lost. A new version of the bill states California and Washington would need to approve similar measures, ensuring that the West Coast remains on the same time.
Regardless of the results of this bill, daylight saving time remains in 2024.
