Create a cool craft for cheap
Last year I was at a holiday party socializing with the dog in the house (yes, I am THAT person) when I spotted a wonderful DIY holiday ornament wreath. The charming design stuck with me, and as I searched for one to buy, I saw price points for this this sparkly holiday decor anywhere from $20 to $85. I don’t spend over $10 on decorations, so this was out of my budget.
Fast forward a year and I find all the materials I need at none other than Dollar Tree. You know, the place where everything is $1! They had a wreath form and various sizes of bulbs that I spent a whooping $8 on. After putting it all together, I could not believe how easy it was. Mind you, I am not even close to a crafty person. Mediocre at best. If I can do this, so can you.
Here’s a quick guide on how to create your very own DIY holiday ornament wreath for $8 or less.
Materials:
- 14 inch wreath frame (1)
- Large ornaments-12 piece set (4)
- Small ornaments-15 piece set (3)
- Glue gun + glue
Step 1
Arrange the inside and outside edges with large ornaments. I tried to keep a loose pattern with mine. Glue all of them on.
Step 2
Fill in the remaining large bulbs in the body of the wreath and glue on.
Step 3
At this point, you’ll see quite a few empty spaces. Have no fear. It will all come together soon. Place the smaller bulbs in the empty spaces and then glue. Let dry.
Step 4
For the last step you can loop a ribbon or string through the back of the wreath as a hook. Here’s a photo of my finished project hanging up.
Voila! You did it! Wasn’t that easy? This project was so simple I went out the same night and bought more supplies from Dollar Tree to make a second one as a gift. This one I made had a smaller frame and as a result I spent only $5. Here’s how it turned out:
