Every December, a quiet street in southeast Portland transforms its charming homes into a holiday spectacular for all to enjoy. Nothing says it is Christmastime in Portland quite like a trip down Peacock Lane, one of Portland’s must-see holiday light displays.
2024 Peacock Lane: Portland’s Christmas Street
Portland’s Peacock Lane has been decking the halls of each house for the holiday season for close to 100 years. The mostly Tudor-style homes are adorned with so much more than sparkling lights.
Each home takes on its own personality. Some stick to holiday tradition with nativity scenes and spiritual depictions, while others display incredible replicas of Santa, Frosty and all your favorite holiday characters.
My personal favorites are the Nightmare Before Christmas house and the Star Wars house. Who says the Resistance can’t go on holiday? The creativity and time that goes into making these displays is truly a sight to see.
The best part is this holiday light display is completely free to visit. Hop in the car with some tasty snacks and the holiday tunes cranked, and head to southeast.
On most nights, you’ll be able to drive through the attraction. Be prepared to wait your turn to enter the street (the snacks will help). There will be people onsite directing traffic.
The best way to visit Peacock Lane is by foot. On every night, you can park your car and stroll the sidewalks. This will let you get up close to all the incredible displays, and really take in the beauty and craftsmanship.
When is Peacock Lane in 2024?
The 2024 Peacock Lane schedule is December 15-31, 2024 from 6 to 11 p.m. every night.
Car-Free Nights
This year, Peacock Lane will have designated pedestrian-only nights December 15 and 16. This means the street to closed to cars and open to foot traffic only.
Cocoa Booth
The cocoa booth offers cups of hot cocoa and hot cider are free. Donations are accepted and a portion of proceeds are donated to a local charity each year.
The cocoa booth opens at 6 p.m. every night from December 15-24, 2024. It is open all night, or while supplies last. You are welcome to bring your own reusable cup.
