Family Earth Day events in Portland!
Earth Day events abound in the Rose City. It is a great holiday to gather your family, get in touch with nature and make lasting memories. Here are 5 events happening on April 22.
Family Earth Day Hike
Hoyt Arboretum, Northwest, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
Unplug, unwind and get some exercise at the Shaklee-hosted free hike. Bring a sack lunch to enjoy under the covered lunch tables after the hike. The first 50 people to arrive at the visitor center will get a green gift.
Children’s Earth Day Sing-A-Long
Hammer + Jacks, Southeast, 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Get your kids on their feet and having fun with music, dancing, stories and puppets. Longtime musicians Sarah and Kim introduce children to a variety of music though storytelling, child participation and interactive puppets.
Beanstalk Earth Day Sidewalk Sale
Beanstalk, Northeast, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Get your child’s face painted and maybe a new reused outfit during Beanstalk’s sidewalk sale. All proceeds go to the fundraising efforts of local area schools.
Kids Seed Planting
Natural Grocers, East Vancouver, 12-4 p.m.
What kid doesn’t want to play in the dirt? Natural Grocers’ kids seed planting supplies the soil, seeds, water and upcycled egg cartons. Other events include a tasting station and food choice presentation. Bring your kids to get their hands’ dirty and a gift that keeps on growing.
StreamTeam Earth Day Fest
Salmon Creek Greenway, West Vancouver, 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
Enjoy free fun and games for the whole family along with interactive nature demonstrations and entertainment. Partake in tree planting, learn about birds of prey and lizards, and see a comedy show.
