A group of Portland museums have banded together to offer free admission to educators. On select days this summer, educators can visit the museums to enjoy complimentary tickets and tours.
Here are the details for each participating museum along with the scheduled educator focused activities. All activities require you to RSVP in advance, which is noted below.
Hours vary by location. Be sure to check before you visit.
Free Admission for Educators at Portland Museums
From July 31-August 13, eight Portland museums are giving free admission to educators.
Check in at the ticketing counter at each museum and present your educator ID to receive one free ticket. You can go solo or have your family and friends buy a ticket to join you. Many of these museums offer free admission for kids.
Participating museums include the Five Oaks Museum, Japanese American Museum of Oregon, Museum of the Oregon Territory, Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education, Oregon Historical Society, Portland Art Museum, Portland Chinatown Museum and Pittock Mansion.
Here are the details on how educators can participate at each location:
Five Oaks Museum
PCC Rock Creek Campus, 17677 NW Springville Road
The museum is open Thursday–Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
Five Oaks Museum is hosting a educator tour and resources share on Friday, August 11, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. RSVP by emailing learning@fiveoaksmusueum.org.
Japanese American Museum of Oregon
411 NW Flanders Street
The museum is open Thursday–Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Tuesday–Wednesday by appointment.
Attend educator tours on these dates:
- Thursday, August 3 from 10:30–11:30 a.m.
- Thursday, August 10 from 10:30–11:30 a.m.

Museum of the Oregon Territory
211 Tumwater Drive, Oregon City
Museum hours are Friday and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education
724 NW Davis Street
The museum is open Wednesday–Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Here are two special events for educators:
- Holocaust and Oregon Jewish Stories Tour and Reception on Wednesday, August 2 from 1-2:30 p.m.
- Civil and Human Rights in Oregon and Abroad Tour and Reception on Thursday, August 10, 1-2:30 p.m.

Oregon Historical Society
1200 SW Park Avenue
Museum hours are Monday–Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
Oregon Historical Society Educator tours and resources events are on these dates:
- Monday, July 31 from 1–2:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, August 9 from 10–11:30 a.m.
Pittock Mansion

The museum is open Tuesday from 12 to 5 p.m. and Wednesday–Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Pittock Mansion educator tour is Tuesday, August 8 from 10-11 a.m. RSVP by emailing kwilliams@pittockmansion.org.
Portland Art Museum

The museum is open Wednesday-Sunday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Portland Art Museum is hosting an educator tour and welcome on Wednesday, August 9 from 1-2:30 p.m. RSVP here.
Portland Chinatown Museum

The museum is open Friday-Sunday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
