Free Comic Book Day is taking place in May and six Portland stores are participating in the annual event.
Every year, participating shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely free to anyone who stops by. Comics range from major publishers, such as DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Dark Horse Comics, IDW Publishing, BOOM! Studios, Dynamite Entertainment, and Image Comics, to a bunch of independent publishers.
You never know what world you might uncover in your free comic book. The event invites you to to explore new worlds, revisit your favorites, and discover new destinations.
Free Comic Book Day is taking place on Saturday, May 3. Hours vary by participating location.
You can find six participating shops throughout the city. Explore the list below to see if you spot your favorite shop or find a new location.
Free Comic Book Day Portland Stores
Books With Pictures
Books With Pictures creates an. inclusive environment for everyone to peruse a wide variety of comic books.
The store is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 1401 SE Division St.
Cosmic Monkey Comics
10 a.m.-12 p.m.
- Michael Kurt – Ryker
- Mike Lawrence – Science Comics: Deep Sea Creatures
10 a.m.-1 p.m.
- Celina Hernandez & Mike Murphy – Chibi Comics
1-3 p.m.

Floating World Comics
Floating World Comics you’ll find new comics, magazines, books and more.
On Saturday, the store is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 1223 Lloyd Center.
Future Dreams
Did you know Future Dreams is Portland’s largest and oldest direct market comic bookstore?
The shop is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 1847 E. Burnside Ste. 116.
Tastecat Comics
Stop by Tastecat Comics, which specializes in collectible comics and original comic art. Along with free comics, there is a sidewalk sale all day on Saturday.
The store is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 2621 SE Clinton St.
Things From Another World
The Beaverton location of Things From Another World features comics, graphic novels, manga, kids books, toys, and statues to add to your collection.
The shop is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 4390 SW Lloyd Ave. in Beaverton.
