Free Comic Book Day is taking place in May and several Portland-area stores are participating in the annual event.
Every year, participating shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely free to anyone who stops by. Comics range from major publishers, such as DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Dark Horse Comics, IDW Publishing, BOOM! Studios, Dynamite Entertainment, and Image Comics, to a bunch of independent publishers.
You never know what world you might uncover in your free comic book. The event invites you to to explore new worlds, revisit your favorites, and discover new destinations.
Free Comic Book Day is taking place on Saturday, May 2. Hours vary by participating location.
You can find participating shops throughout the city. Explore the list below to see if you spot your favorite shop or find a new location.

Free Comic Book Day Portland Stores
Capes and Crepes Board Game Cafe
Snack on crepes and bubble tea while exploring the latest in board games, puzzle, trading cards and more at Capes and Crepes Board Game Cafe.
The store is open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at 4990 SE Division St.
Comics Adventure
Comics Adventure offers a diverse selection of comics and merchandise that caters to all ages.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 15705 SE McLoughlin Blvd, Suite A in Portland.
Cosmic Monkey Comics
Floating World Comics
At Floating World Comics you’ll find new comics, magazines, books and more.
On Saturday, the store is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 1223 Lloyd Center.
I Like Comics
Head to Vancouver’s I Like Comics for more than 5,000 square feet of comics, graphic novels, statues, original art, action figures and more.
The store is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 1715 Broadway St. in Vancouver.
Mindtaker Miniatures
At Mindtaker Miniatures, you can buy, sell and trade miniatures. There’s also board games, books, hobby supplies and more.
Stop by from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 17030 SE 1st St Ste 106 in Vancouver.
Other Worlds Games & Comics
Other Worlds Games & Comics is your destination to explore table-top games and comics with fellow pop culture enthusiasts.
The shop is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 6350 SW Capitol Hwy.
Rose City Comics
Rose City Comics is your stop for the latest collected editions of your favorite series, classic graphic novels and indie gems.
The comic shop is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 3725 N. Mississippi Ave
Tastecat Comics
Stop by Tastecat Comics, which specializes in collectible comics and original comic art.
The store is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 2621 SE Clinton St.
Things From Another World (Beaverton and Milwaukie)
The Beaverton location of Things From Another World features comics, graphic novels, manga, kids books, toys, and statues to add to your collection.
The shops are open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and can be found at 4390 SW Lloyd Ave. in Beaverton and 10977 SE Main St. in Milwaukie.
