Since 1999 the JAW Festival has taken over Portland Center Stage at the Armory for two weeks every summer to develop and revise the scripts of select playwrights, and for one weekend those scripts are presented by local theater professionals in FREE staged readings. This year, the JAW (Just Add Water) Festival kicks off Thursday at 8 p.m. with readings from scripts by six Portland-area high school students in the Ellen Bye Studio.
Staged readings continue Friday and Saturday on the Main Stage, with Keys of the Kingdom at 4 p.m. Friday; db at 8 p.m. Friday; The Royal Society of Antarctica at 4 p.m. Saturday; and A Life at 8 p.m. Saturday.
Between readings there will be performances inside and out the Armory by dancers, puppeteers and musicians. You’ll find the festival schedule here.
