Have you ever wondered what storytelling was like before modern technology? See it come to life right before your eyes at The Tesla Stories Live Vintage Radio Theater Onstage. The show takes you back in time with vintage radio theater live and direct from 1944.
Since 2014, The Tesla City Stories has delighted local audiences with monthly theater performances like no other. This local, original production was started right here in Portland, Oregon. It continues to grow in popularity with most shows selling out.
Local actors take the stage to perform live radio theater derived from the long-lost radio programs of Tesla Broadcasting Company. The shows cover sitcoms, thrillers, mysteries, romantic comedies with forays into westerns, sci-fi and horror. All performances are based in the fictional locale of Tesla City. It’s also never the same show twice.
Here’s how you can enjoy Portland’s most unique night out on the town and get an exclusive discount on tickets to the Friday, September 13, performance.

The stories are always new and never repeated. Here’s what you’ll enjoy at the September 13 show:
- What better way to launch a new season of the Tesla City Stories than with the return of fan (and cast) favorites The Harpy Squadron? That’s right, when we take the stage at the Old Church Concert Hall this September, we’ll be picking up with the adventures of that “female fighting force that flies for freedom!”
- When we rejoin them in the first episode of the evening, “A Cuckoo in the Eagle’s Nest,” The Harpies’ first mission was a rousing success and they’ve made it to their new island base. So what could they possibly have to worry about? How about a mysterious stowaway, a thoroughly unamused RAF, and a betrayal from within!
- And in an exhilarating episode to close the evening, Allied bases across Europe are being targeted by a mysterious squadron of black planes that make absolutely no noise as they attack! Have the Nazis developed their own fantastically advanced fighters? Has the Harpy Squadron met its match in “Der Stillesturm?” Find out Friday, September 13 when the Tesla City Stories returns!
- All of that plus the next installment of the TBC’s soap Nightingale of the Broken Heart and the resplendent sounds of PDX’s very own The Juleps – an Andrew Sisters inspired trio.
Although time is a relative concept, the show at the Old Church Concert Hall starts September 13 at 7:30 p.m. sharp.
