Head to Zenger Farm for the 5th annual Juneteenth Celebration focused on history, community and education.
Zenger Farm is a 24-acre combined farm and wetland in southeast Portland. The urban farm hosts educational activities in a natural environment. Programs teach kids and adults the importance of food, farming, wetland conservation and environmental stewardship.
Here’s how you can participate in the annual event:
Juneteenth Celebration at Zenger Farm
On Saturday, June 10, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Zenger Farm’s community chefs are leading the annual Juneteenth celebration. The federal holiday is recognized on June 19. This event is intentionally scheduled the weekend before to give space to Black led organizations and their celebrations.
On June 10, the community is invited to learn about Juneteenth history and its current importance to Black Americans.
Activities during the celebration include:
- Black led organizations and vendors
- Lunch curated by the community chefs
- A wellness station with Do-it-yourself demos
- Arts and crafts for all ages
- Live DJ and speakers
- Kids activities
Admission
Before visiting, you are encouraged to reserve your spot online. Zenger Farm’s Juneteenth Celebration is open to the public on a pay what you can basis. There are sliding scale donation options for admittance to this event, starting at $5 per family or group. For free admission, use code ZFARM when you are registering for the event.
Be sure to dress for the weather. Wear boots and pack any snacks and drinks to bring with you. Bathrooms and a water bottle filling station are available. The main building, bathrooms, food and activity area, and one of the gardens are wheelchair accessible.
