Celebrate the end of winter at Nordic Northwest’s Vappu Celebration.
Since 1986, Nordic Northwest has brought Scandinavia to Portland through traditional food, entertainment, goods and activities. Visit the Portland headquarters for a special event called Vappu.
Vappu Celebration at Nordic Northwest
On Sunday, April 30, from 12 to 3 p.m., Nordic Northwest is hosting a free family event to celebrate the end of winter.
At the event, you’ll enjoy traditional Vappu food and drink and sing-along and activities for children. There’ll also be a no-host bar with beer, wine and sodas.
Kubb, known as Viking Chess, will be played in the lawn, weather permitting. Be sure to pack along your lawn chairs and blankets.
This event is free to attend. If you’d like a meal, a $5 ticket will get you a makkara dog, scoop of potato salad and choice of dessert.
Nordic Northwest has limited parking. The 50-space parking lot is open on a first come, first served basis and there is limited street parking nearby. Visitors are encouraged to take public transit or ride share.
Nordic Northwest is at 8800 SW Oleson Rd. in Portland. For more information, visit Nordic Northwest’s website.
