Celebrate fall in the forest with a traditional salmon bake at Tryon Creek State Natural Area.
On Saturday, October 17, Friends of Tryon Creek is hosting a community Salmon Bake to honor its Indigenous partners and thank the Tryon Creek community. Visitors can watch a traditional salmon bake prepared by the Bruno family and enjoy a sample of the freshly prepared fish.
The event is a great opportunity to experience Indigenous food traditions while enjoying one of Portland’s most beautiful natural areas.
Tryon Creek Salmon Bake
The Salmon Bake takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the Friends Circle near the Nature Center.
Visitors are invited to stop by before or after exploring the park’s forested trails. October is a beautiful time to visit Tryon Creek, when fall colors brighten the forest and the trails offer a peaceful escape from the city.
The event is hosted by Friends of Tryon Creek, a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and sharing the natural area through education, restoration and community programs.
