The exhibit features the art and music of the period when Venice was jumping with artistic geniuses, between the early sixteenth century and the fall of the Republic of Venice, at the end of the eighteenth century. Artists such as Titian and Tintoretto flourished there, as well as composers Monteverdi, Vivaldi and other greats.
Artworks, period instruments and music manuscripts are the artifacts show in this exploration of the interweaving of politics and the arts. The Portland Art Museum is the only U.S. venue for this exhibit, which is on loan from the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
