Explore the wonders of nature at the annual Agate and Mineral Show. The event is held at Portland’s very own science center, OMSI.

Enjoy exhibits, special displays and activities, demonstrations and more at this free, family-friendly event. 

2026 Agate and Mineral Show at OMSI

The Agate and Mineral Show is February 27-March 1, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at OMSI.

Celebrate Earth’s treasures at this family-friendly event. Explore a variety of rocks, minerals and fossils from around the world at a variety of exhibits, including a special Minecraft-inspired exhibition.

Special displays and activities at the show include:

Live demonstrations: Learn about using a rock saw, rock polishing tools and faceting. 

Daily presentations: Expert guest speakers discuss a variety of topics related to geology, mineralogy and paleontology.

Shop rocks, minerals and jewelry: Peruse a variety of one-of-a-kind items you can buy and take home. 

Kids’ corner: There are fun, educational activities.

Raffles: By raffle tickets to win exciting prizes.

Treasure hunt: All ages can test their knowledge and explore the show by participating in a Minecraft-inspired treasure hunt. 

Raffle: Win fun prizes when you buy raffle tickets. 

The event is free to attend. Museum admission is not included, yet you can get discounted admission on Sunday. All proceeds from purchases made at the show are donated to OMSI.

The Agate and Mineral Show takes place at OMSI’s auditorium, 1945 SE Water Ave. in Portland. Parking fees range from $5-$8. For more information, visit the event website.
