Don’t throw your eclipse glasses away, donate them
The eclipse is officially over. So what do you do with those (once coveted) eclipse glasses? Instead of tossing them in the junk drawer or in the trash, donate them.
Astronomers Without Borders plans to announce a program to collect your used eclipse glasses. The organization will distribute the glasses to other countries for future eclipses. Astronomers Without Borders will have corporate partners receiving and processing the glasses.
Here are some ways you can prepare to donate eclipse glasses:
- Ask the company or organization you got your glasses from if they are participating.
- Stay tuned for donation opportunities through Astronomers Without Borders’ newsletter.
- Follow Astronomers Without Borders on Facebook.
Don’t want to wait to donate? Recycle your glasses. Remove the lenses and put the frames in your recycling bin.
