In the spirit of community engagement and shared knowledge, the East County Learn Share Do Fair is taking place Saturday, February 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Centennial High School’s cafeteria.
This event aims to bring people together, fostering connections and creating a healthier, more vibrant community. Spend the day accessing free resources, activities, services and more.
Here are the free activities you can enjoy at this event:
East County Learn Share Do Fair
At East County Learn Share Do Fair, attendees can participate in a variety of offerings, from free lunches to massages to a food pantry to bike helmets. The event caters to diverse interests with exhibitor tables, a repair cafe, a clothing swap, workshops and collection of household sharps, medication, and batteries.
The fair promises an inclusive atmosphere where all are welcome. For Spanish speakers, interpretation services are available.
Engage, Learn and Share
The event offers a plethora of opportunities to engage, learn and share. The repair cafe provides a chance for community members to have their broken items fixed by volunteer fixers.
Gresham Free Swaps is also hosting a clothing swap. You can bring clean clothing to donate to the swap, but this is not required. Children’s clothing is also available.
Workshops
The fair’s workshop schedule is packed with valuable sessions. Here’s the schedule:
11 a.m.-12 p.m.
Comfortable and Safe Homes. Learn about the Multnomah County Weatherization program to help you lower energy bills while enhancing home comfort and safety.
11 a.m.-12 p.m.
Easy Food, Flower and Bee Tending. Learn simple garden and bee-home plans for any location, from pots to plots.
12-1 p.m.
Let’s Talk Plants! OSU Extension Master Gardener™ volunteers are on hand to answer gardening questions and provide gardening guidance.
1-2 p.m.
Energy Efficiency Resources for the Home. Learn low-cost energy-saving techniques, how to install draft-stopping materials and window kits, and where to find additional resources.
Family-Friendly Fun
There are several family-friendly activities at the fair, including:
- Free face painting.
- Free smoothies.
- Bike helmet giveaway, while supplies last.
- Make-your-own green cleaners.
- Creative reuse art projects.
- Coloring, stamping and stickers.
Household sharps, medications and battery collection
In collaboration with Metro, the fair is offering free collection services for medical sharps and epi-pens, prescription medications and household batteries.
