Starting Saturday, January 4, and ending the following Saturday, January 11, Portland’s Lan Su Chinese Garden is offering FREE admission (a savings of $9.50) in exchange for one non-perishable food item that will be donated to Northwest Portland’s Transition Projects for the homeless. This is the Chinese Garden’s annual Great Eight Free Days, which precede the Chinese New Year’s celebration while celebrating the lucky nature of the number eight in Chinese culture.
The Year of the Horse begins on Friday, January 31, with celebrations continuing for the next 15 days.
During the Great Eight Free Days look for special art displays of scroll and folk art and New Year’s items in the Garden Shop. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
