Free parking days in Portland are offered for metered City of Portland parking in each of the city’s parking districts.

2024 Free Parking Days in Portland
Parking in or near downtown Portland ranges from $1.20 to $2.20 per hour. On free parking days, the parking pay station screens display a message letting you know that it’s a holiday and won’t accept payment.
Free parking days include:
January 1: New Year’s Day, January 1
January 15: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
February 19: Presidents Day
May 27: Memorial Day
June 19: Juneteenth
July 4: Independence Day
September 2: Labor Day
November 11: Veterans Day
November 28: Thanksgiving Day
December 25: Christmas Day
Where Can You Park for Free
Metered street parking is free in all of Portland’s parking districts, except at city parks.
To make your parking experience even smoother, here are the five meter districts in Portland:
- Downtown District: Encompassing the Central Business District, South Waterfront and the Pearl District, this area is a hub of activity and commerce.
- Lloyd District: Bounded by the Willamette River, N/NE Broadway, NE 16th, and the I-84 freeway, this district hosts notable landmarks, such as the Oregon Convention Center and Lloyd Center.
- Marquam Hill District: Perched on top of Marquam Hill, this district is home to Oregon Health and Science University, Shriners Hospital for Children and the Portland VA Medical Center.
- Central Eastside District: Located on MLK Blvd. and Grand Ave., this district spans the streets between MLK and Grand from the I-84 freeway to Clay Street.
- Northwest District: Bounded by NW Vaughn, W. Burnside, NW Cornell, Westover Roads, and I-405, this district offers a mix of residential charm and trendy shops.
