On New Year’s Eve, Trimet is helping you get home safely for free. Free Ride on New Year’s Eve
Starting at 8 p.m. on December 31, 2023, all rides on buses, MAX trains, streetcars and C-TRAN will be offered for free. No need to tap your Hop card or buy a ticket at the station. All transfers are also free.
If you’re going out on the town, plan your route on public transit beforehand (make sure you select January 1 for trips after midnight). I recommend saving the route link on your phone, which is especially helpful if you’re toasting the new year with a delicious adult beverage. Or two. Cheers!
On New Year’s Eve, most MAX Lines run past 2 a.m. The MAX will provide extended service, running every 30 minutes. Buses will follow Sunday schedules on New Year’s Eve. Bus lines that do not typically run on Sunday will not be operating.
