On New Year’s Eve, Trimet is helping you get home safely for free. Free Ride on New Year’s Eve
Starting at 8 p.m. on December 31, 2022, all rides on buses, MAX trains and streetcars will be offered for free. No need to tap your Hop card or buy a ticket at the station. All transfers are also free.
If you’re going out on the town, plan your route on public transit beforehand (make sure you select January 1 for trips after midnight). I recommend saving the route link on your phone, which is especially helpful if you’re toasting the new year with a delicious adult beverage. Or two. Cheers!
On New Year’s Eve, most MAX Lines run until 2 a.m. MAX Blue, Green, Orange and Yellow lines will provide extended service, running every 30 minutes. MAX Red Line trains will run on weekday schedules with the last train leaving from Pioneer Square South to PDX at 12:42 a.m.
Shuttle buses carrying riders between Gateway Transit Center and Portland International Airport will run after train service ends as needed and until approximately 3:30 a.m.
On January 1, or after midnight, buses, MAX and the streetcar will run on Sunday schedules.
