Get a FREE dose of Shakespeare and romance at Director Park at noon on Friday, April 11, when Portland Center Stage presents “All’s Fair in Love & Shakespeare.” Title sound familiar? But it doesn’t quite ring a bell? That’s because this show, featuring four young actors from the company’s Education & Community Programs Department, is a hodgepodge of love scenes (or squabbling scenes, as the case may be) from some of Shakespeare’s most enduring love stories.
You’ll while away your lunch hour pining away for Romeo or Juliet; ill-fated Hamlet and Ophelia may drive you mad; and sharp-tongued Beatrice and Benedick will serve up for you a spicy dessert of whipped wit and sauciness. There will be other couplings and triangles, all taken from Shakespeare’s plays. And just in case you’re not thoroughly Shakespeare literate, the actors will introduce each scene by explaining the story. All in all, it’s a great way to spend a lunch hour.
The FREE program will be repeated Saturday, May 10, at 2 p.m. at Central Library.
