Ready for the spooky season? Attend the Halloween Swamp Meet!
Mark your calendars and dust off your costumes for a special event to kick off the fall season. If you’re someone who takes Halloween seriously, this is the event you’ve been waiting for.
Here are the details about this year’s event.
2024 Halloween Swamp Meet at Oaks Park
The Halloween Swamp Meet is Saturday, August 31, 2024, from noon to 7 p.m. at Oaks Park. The free event is a celebration of all things spooky and creative.
With more than 60 vendors featuring spooky handmade items, you’ll find everything from horror masks to voodoo bags, unique jewelry and one-of-a-kind artwork. Local artists and vendors showcase their most hauntingly beautiful creations to add to your Halloween collection.
Along with the vendors, there are fun, family-friendly activities.
Family-Friendly Activities
This event is designed to be fun for the whole family. Portlandia Fortune Tellers will be on hand to reveal your fate, while face painters will transform you into your favorite spooky character.
Costume Contest
The day wouldn’t be complete without the costume contest, which kicks off at 4 p.m. Come dressed in your best scary, funny, original, silly, elaborate, or simple costume. Trophies are awarded for first, second and third place, plus a special prize for the best kid’s costume.
After the contest, participants will parade down the midway, displaying their costumes to all the guests at Oaks Park.
Scavenger Hunt Extravaganza
Join the Halloween Swamp Meet Scavenger Hunt for a chance to show off your detective skills.
You’ll have 30 minutes to find all 45 items on the hunt list, scattered throughout the venue.
Teams can consist of one to two adults or one adult and two kids under 12. With only 15 teams allowed to participate, make sure you bring your best hunting skills. Meet by the gazebo at 2 p.m. to start your adventure.
Haunted Sellwood-Moreland Tour
As the event winds down, the ghostly fun continues with the Haunted Sellwood-Moreland Tour, hosted by Northwest Ghost Tours. This two-hour walking tour begins at 8 p.m. and uncovers the haunted history of the neighborhood over 20 blocks of the Sellwood-Moreland Neighborhood. Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for youth 13 and under.
This event is free to attend. All the spooky action takes place at Oaks Park, 7805 SE Oaks Park Way in Portland. While you’re there, be sure to ride the carousel and train for free.
