Movie Madness, Portland’s very own video rental store, hosts free community screenings every week.
Started in 1991, Movie Madness has more than 80,000 titles, including new releases, childhood classics, foreign films from more than 65 countries, an extensive LGBTQ section, and cult rarities.
Here’s how you can watch movies for free at this Portland institution.
Movie Madness Free Community Screenings
At Movie Madness, there is a miniplex that hosts events for our local film-loving community. On Sundays, the miniplex has free community screenings programmed by a staff of movie experts.
The free community screenings show everything from cult classics to family favorites to unstreamable oddities. You can see what’s playing ahead of time by checking out the schedule posted in the store or by signing up for the Movie Madness newsletter.
Here are the free community screening times on Sundays:
- 11:30 a.m.
- 6 p.m.
- 9 p.m.
Screenings are free, but you must reserve a ticket in-store or by calling 503-234-4363.
Movie Madness also has movie snacks and beverages available for purchase to accompany your free screening.
The video store is at 4320 SE Belmont St. in Portland. For more information, visit the Movie Madness website.
