Have you heard? Pioneer Courthouse Square is having a birthday Sunday. The square, also known as Portland’s Living Room, is turning 30. To celebrate, Portland’s own Pink Martini is leading the second annual Singin’ in the Square, 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, April 6. Thomas Lauderdale, China Forbes, Storm Large and special guests will lead the celebration. Songbooks with more than 30 sing-along favorites will be handed out FREE.
Be sure to arrive early to get more FREE souvenirs of the big birthday bash. While supplies last, there will be Singin’ in the Square umbrellas and other giveaways.
And what’s a birthday party without cake? There will be mini cupcakes — 1,984 of them to commemorate the square’s 1984 opening — specially made for the occasion by Cupcake Jones.
And in case you’re still hungry after wolfing down your mini cupcake, look for the food carts in the square selling some of Portland’s favorite treats, including Voodoo Doughnuts, Bunk Sandwiches and Koi Fusion.
