Located in the heart of downtown, Portland Art Museum is internationally renowned for exciting art experiences. On free admission days, our community gets open access to one of our city’s top attractions along with special activities.
Portland Art Museum Free Admission Day
On Sunday, November 24, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Portland Art Museum is offering free admission.
You’ll get access to the entire museum, including the closing of Jeffrey Gibson’s exhibition. There’s also performances, art making sessions and talks.
Activities
There’s also a full schedule of performances and activities at the museum, including:
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Drop-in Art and Button Making: The activity is lead by Oregon educators who are part of a larger initiative to develop teacher resources highlighting important themes and techniques in Jeffrey Gibson’s artwork and to ensure their impact continues.
11:00 a.m. and 3:45 p.m.
The Oklahoma Fancy Dancers: This group of powwow champions come together to form a professional and highly acclaimed Native American dance troupe. All the dancers are enrolled tribal members. Their award-winning dance regalia is brilliantly colorful, traditional and representative of the dancer’s tribe and dance performed.
12:30 p.m.
Reading of Lara Croft and the Temple of Jeffrey Gibson by Anthony Hudson: Join Anthony Hudson, the artist and writer behind Carla Rossi, for a special reading.
1:15 p.m.
Gelato: Enjoy a free sweet treat of gelato, affogato or sorbet courtesy of Pronto Gelato. It is first come, first served with limited quantities.
2 p.m.
Panel Conversation: Hear reflections from artist Jeffrey Gibson and curator Kathleen Ash-Milby, along with creative collaborators, moderated by artist and collaborator Anthony Hudson.
Free Tickets
Free admission tickets can be reserved online in advance. Tickets will also be available at the door for walk-in visitors.
Another way to get free admission to the museum is through Bank of America’s Museums on Us program. You can also get two free tickets from the Multnomah County Library Discovery Pass. Children 17 and under always receive free admission along with veterans and active-duty military.
