Located in the heart of downtown, Portland Art Museum is internationally renowned for exciting art experiences. On free admission days, our community gets open access to one of our city’s top attractions along with special activities.

Portland Art Museum Free Admission Day

On Sunday, February 22, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Portland Art Museum offers free admission. Along with access to the museum, you can enjoy a lecture, music, and hands-on art making.

Activities

There is a full schedule of activities every day of the event. Here’s what is in store: 

A Conversation with Artist Nick Cave

From 2-3:30 p.m., join a conversation with acclaimed artist Nick Cave, moderated by Rukaiyah Adams, Chief Executive Officer of the 1803 Fund.

Artmaking: Bookbinding Demonstration with Melanie Stevens

From noon to 2 p.m., join teaching artist and graphic novel creator Melanie Stevens for a drop-in demonstration of her bookbinding process.

Artmaking: Zine Workshop with Paula Champagne

From noon to 2 p.m., join teaching artist and visual storyteller Paula Champagne for a zine-making activity where participants can draw or write their story, linking the artwork to where they come from, who they are today, and what they imagine ahead.

DJ Ambush

From noon to 2 p.m. and 3-5 p.m., DK Ambush shares 30 years of spinning beats with museum visitors.

How to Get Free Tickets

Portland Art Museum is at 1219 SW Park Ave. in Portland. To reserve your free ticket and view the activity schedule, visit the museum’s website.

Another way to get free admission to the museum is through Bank of America’s Museums on Us program. You can also get two free tickets from the Multnomah County Library Discovery Pass. Children 17 and under always receive free admission along with veterans and active-duty military.
