Get Free Admission to the Portland Art Museum
On Sunday, Portland Art Museum is offering free admission. The theme of this month’s free day is Juneteenth, the national holiday commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. View activities and claim your free tickets.
Get BOGO Burgers at Next Level Burger
Treat dad to lunch and get a great deal. Next Level Burger, Portland’s plant based burger joint, is serving buy one, get one free BeerChz Burgers on Sunday.
Go Stargazing at OMSI’s Star Party
On Saturday, OMSI’s Star Party lets you meet others interested in astronomy while you view planets, the moon, stars and other celestial sights through telescopes and binoculars of all sizes. These parties are held at Rooster Rock and L.L. Stewart Stubb state parks. Events are free to attend. Parking is $5.
Get Active at an Urban Park
The Gorge is sure to be overrun during Father’s Day weekend. Instead of escaping the city, explore it at a Portland urban park. Play catch in a meadow at Kelley Point Park or go biking at Powell Butte Nature Park.
You can also get free parking at Portland metro parks and Washington state parks on Sunday.
Go on a Prehistoric Adventure at Dinolandia
Mike Bennett’s Dinolandia is an immersive walk-through museum features more than 50 species of dinosaurs, ranging from the chicken-sized Compsognathus to a floor-to-ceiling Tyrannosaurus Rex. This family-friendly event is $5 per person. It is open all weekend.
Catch a Cheap Flick at a Portland Theater
Portland has an abundance of movie options and most with a great selection of food and drinks. First- and second-run movies play at these cheaper theaters. Here’s where can see independent, foreign, new release and classic films for $7 or less.
Enjoy Oaks Park’s Free and Cheap Attractions
Did you know you can ride the carousel and train at Oaks Park for free? These historic attractions are complimentary during park hours. If you’re looking for a fun indoor activity, go rollerskating! The Oaks Park Roller Rink offers year-round skating fun for Portlanders. Admission is $10.
Oaks Park is also offering dads a free ride bracelet with the purchase of a ride bracelet for their child.
Head to Forest Park for the Wildwood Welcome Party
On Friday and Saturday, the Forest Park Conservancy is hosting the Wildwood Welcome Party with a variety of experiences planned for people of all skill levels, including family-friendly activities. Enjoy yoga in the park, ivy basket weaving, a photography hike and more. All activities are free, but you do have to register in advance.
Spend the Day at Washington Park
Washington Park is the keeper of Portland’s best attractions. The best way to access the attractions at Washington Park is on the free shuttle. See the route and choose an activity for you and your dad.
Pick Some Berries
Get your hands dirty at a local you-pick farm. Strawberries are ripe and fresh for the picking at you-pick farms on Sauvie Island. The drive out to the island is truly a breath of fresh air you and your dad are sure to enjoy.
Build Something Together
Does your Dad have a project he needs help finishing? Work on it together. Before heading to the hardware store for tools, check out these free tool libraries in your neighborhood.
Head to Portland Saturday Market
Explore local arts, crafts, food and performers at Portland Saturday Market. The market is back every Saturday in Downtown Portland. It features more than 250 booths filled with handcrafted goods and is free to attend.
Take in the Views at a Lavender Farm
Who says Dad doesn’t like flowers? Sit back, relax and take in the sights and smells at Lavender Farms near Portland. All of them have incredible views and you-pick lavender.
Take a Drive to Vista House
Take a day trip and visit the crown jewel of the Columbia River Gorge. The historic 1918 Vista House at the top of Crown Point offers visitors an incredible view of the Columbia River Gorge. It is open on Saturday and Sunday during Father’s Day weekend and is free to visit.
