Admission to the Oregon Zoo is just $4 on Tuesday, March 11, as part of the zoo’s Second Tuesday program. Thanks to underwriting by the Walmart Foundation, adults save $7.50 from the regular admission of $11.50; seniors save $6 from the regular admission of $10; and kids save $4.50 from the regular admission of $8.50. Children 2 and younger are always FREE.
Riders of Tri-Met buses or MAX light rail get an extra $1.50 off the already reduced price of admission just by showing their transit ticket or pass, making the price of their zoo ticket just $2.50. Those who come by car can expect to pay regular Portland hourly rates of $1.60 with a $4 maximum through March 31.
The zoo opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 4 p.m.
Current attractions include the lion cub triplets, who have been venturing outdoors more often now. And according to the weather forecast, Tuesday’s high temperature of 60 degrees is perfect play outside weather for a lion cub. The 4-month-old otter, Ziggy, is fun to watch, and the lorikeets are out in full force at Lorikeet Landing.
Also, the elephants are enjoying their new expanded habitat. The new Elephant Lands enclosure, which will be four times larger than their current home, will be completed by the fall of 2015.
