Celebrate the fiber arts with your community and support independent yarn shops at the annual Rose City Yarn Crawl.
An annual event brings together knitters, crocheters, spinners, weavers and felters to explore the many shops in and around Portland. In its 15th year, the yarn crawl brings a skein full of fun March 7-10, 2024. Here’s what you need to know:
Rose City Yarn Crawl
How It Works
Rose City Yarn Crawl is a collaboration of participating shops giving you the opportunity to collect featured patterns, buy limited edition yarns, attend special events and win prizes.
With each purchase you make, you will receive a Ravelry download code for a free pattern. Purchase a kit for that pattern and 10% of its sale will be donated to charity. Each shop is supporting a different nonprofit.
Shop hours will vary, but most will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, and 12-5 p.m. on Sunday. If you are visiting earlier or later, be sure to check the shop websites for closing hours.

There are eight shops throughout the Portland area participating in this year’s Rose City Yarn Crawl. On the map below you’ll also find places nearby each yarn shop where you can get coffee, a bite to eat or hang out and revel in all the fun projects you have acquired.

Passport and Prizes
This event gives you a chance to win prizes for visiting participating yarn shops. Get your Rose City Yarn Crawl Passport stamped at each location, then submit your completed passport at the last shop you visit before the close of business on Sunday. Your completed passport gets you entry to win grand prize baskets full of gifts from event sponsors and participating shops.
If you can’t visit all the shops, you can still enter to win. Sign in at each shop you visit and you’ll be entered to win one of the five prizes.
There is no purchase necessary to enter to win. Prize winners will be notified and shared online the Tuesday after the crawl.
