Instead of overspending on February 14, try one of these free and cheap Valentine’s Day activities in Portland. Enjoying each other’s company and celebrating your love does not have to come with a hefty price tag. The events below range from free to cheap, at $0 to $30.
Also, if you’re rolling solo this V Day, all of these activities are fun by yourself or with friends. Valentine’s Day isn’t just for lovers. Feel free to treat yourself to something special!

Free and Cheap Valentine’s Day Activities in Portland
Relax at a Sauna or Soaking Pool
What better way to connect than in a tranquil, relaxing setting? There are several budget-friendly soaking pools and saunas in and around Portland. I recommend the soaking pool at McMenamins Kennedy School. It is located in a private outdoor courtyard surrounded by lush gardens. The price per hour is $10.
Play a Round of Mini Golf
Portland’s favorite public joy creator is once again bringing a one-of-a-kind experience the whole community can enjoy. Mike Bennett’s Wonderwood Mini Golf is a nine-hole indoor mini golf course located in St. Johns. Tickets are $10 per person.
Cuddle Up at the Movies
Seeing a movie is always something I look forward to. Thankfully in Portland, you don’t have to pay $12+ per ticket. Here’s where you can see a movie for $7 or less. One of my favorites is the St. Johns Theater & Pub. It’s are $7 before 5 p.m. and you can get a basket of cajun tots to share!

This Valentine’s Day, skate the night away with your sweetheart at Oaks Park Roller Rink. The attraction is offering a skate date deal to celebrate love, nostalgia and the joy of being together. Get skate admission, dinner and drinks for $22 per person. More details here.
Take a (Romantic) Stroll
If you’re looking for a completely free Valentine’s celebration, pack a snack for two and a blanket and head to one of Portland’s best urban parks.
Tryon Creek Natural Area has all the elements of a great Portland hike: trees covered in moss with huge ferns lining the trails that lead to a meandering creek. Enjoy the outdoor and learn something new together at the natural area’s free guided hikes on February 15.
Go Thrifting
Is this the year you start a new tradition? Find a memento to decorate your home or a new outfit for your next date night. Portland has more than 50 thrift and consignment stores filled with treasures. You can also stop by Maizee Mae’s Vintage and Collectible Market, which is $5 per person and has food and drinks onsite.
Sing Your Heart Out to Live Music
In Portland, the live music possibilities are endless, but why pay more than $20? These six venues offer unique vibes and cheap tickets, and have shows almost every night of the week.

Ride Around Washington Park
Washington Park is the keeper of many of Portland’s best attractions. Access these attractions on the Washington Park free shuttle. It runs daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in February.
