Cuddle up at the theater
Seeing a movie is always something I look forward to. Thankfully in Portland, you don’t have to pay $12+ per ticket. Here’s where you can see a movie for $6 or less.
Attend Portland Night Market
The event features more than 175 of Portland’s best brands, makers and merchants. Best of all, it is free to attend! The next Portland Night Market is taking place February 11-12.
Take a (romantic) stroll
If you’re looking for a completely free Valentine’s celebration, pack a snack for two and a blanket and head to one of Portland’s best urban parks.
Go thrifting
Is this the year you start a new tradition? Find a memento to decorate your home or a new outfit for your next date night. Portland has more than 50 thrift and consignment stores filled with treasures.
Sing your heart out to live music
In Portland, the live music possibilities are endless, but why pay more than $20? These five venues offer unique vibes and cheap tickets, and have shows almost every night of the week.
Explore Portland’s history
Looking for a one-of-a-kind experience to retrace Portland’s history in an arboretum? Take a tour of Portland’s historic Lone Fir Cemetery. On February 12, you can take a historical tour of the cemetery and retrace the incredible lives of our city’s pioneers.
Ride around Washington Park
Washington Park is the keeper of many of Portland’s best attractions. Access these attractions on the Washington Park free shuttle. It will be running on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Celebrate Chinese New Year
Lan Sun Chinese Garden hosts a Chinese New Year Festival every year with traditional decor, a scavenger hunt, festival audio tours and cultural displays. The garden is celebrating the Year of the Tiger from February 1-15, 2022. Tickets to the daytime festival are $12.95 per person.
Go glow skating
At Oaks Park Roller Rink’s Glow Skate Nights lights down and the funky, fun disco lights take center rink. Put on your neon and let yourself shine as you zoom around the wooden oval rink to playful music. Tickets are $10 and you’ll get a complimentary glow stick to complete your outfit.
On February 11 and 12, the amusement park is turning on the midway lights for you to take in the artistry of the lights during Portland Winter Light Festival’s free citywide event. Afterward, head to the rink for Glow Skate Night!
Be illuminated at Portland Winter Light Festival
The citywide outdoor arts celebration featuring interactive light-based art installations, vibrant performances, and kinetic fire sculptures. The festival presents public art installations and performances for the community to enjoy. Portland Winter Light Festival is taking place February 4-12. Fall in love with Lents
On Valentine’s weekend, celebrate community and creativity at the Fall In Love With Lents community festival. Show some love to the Lents community of artists, musicians, and businesses during the multi-day festival. All events are free to attend.
Do the Time Warp together
Have you been to a midnight showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show at Clinton Street Theater? If not, add it to your Portland bucket list. Pick out your best outrageous costume, practice the signature moves and head to the Saturday show. Tickets to the February 12 screening are $12 per person.
Dance the night away to 80s music
On Valentine’s weekend, head to a historic McMenamins venue for a special 80s dance night. Video Dance Attack is taking over Mission Theater on February 12 with 80s music videos projected onto multiple giant screens with great sound and a light show. Tickets are only $8 at the door.

Find Your fright at Love Bites
The Fear PDX’s Love Bites: A Valentine’s Haunted House features the same thrills and chills of the Halloween season with a lover’s twist. Leave traditional Valentine’s celebrations in the past and get your heart racing at the haunted house.
This is the most expensive activity listed at $30 per person. The event is taking place on February 12.
