The beloved Verboort Sausage and Kraut Festival returns for its 90th year of food, festivities and fun.
This annual event brings the community together to celebrate local traditions, while raising funds for the small Catholic community and school that make this event possible.
Here’s what you can look forward to:
2024 Verboort Sausage and Kraut Festival
The 2024 Verboort Sausage and Kraut Festival is Saturday, November 2, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. With sausage and sauerkraut meals, a Dutch-themed bazaar, a lively beer garden and family-friendly bingo, there’s something for everyone at this one-day-only event.
The marketplce opens at 9 a.m., featuring handmade holiday decor, cozy quilts, potholders, and homemade baked goods and jams. This is a great place to find unique holiday gifts and support local artisans while browsing festive items. You can also buy bulk sausage for $7 per pound and sauerkraut for $5 per quart.
There’s also fun for the whole family. Bingo starts in the gym at 11 a.m., offering games for all ages.
Meanwhile, adults (21+) can relax in the beer garden, which opens at noon and will have college football on a big screen to keep the party atmosphere lively.
Sausage Dinner
The highlight of the festival is the annual sausage dinner. Indulge in the full dinner experience, available from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. either in the dining hall or by drive-thru.
This hearty meal includes:
- Verboort sausage
- Homemade sauerkraut
- Mashed potatoes and gravy
- Applesauce and salad
- Green beans
- Dinner roll
- Apple pie or lemon meringue pie
Meal prices are $21 for adults and dinners to go (13-61); $19 for veterans and seniors (62+); and $12 for children (6-12).
While some areas of the festival will accept credit and debit cards, not all vendors will have this option. Bring cash or use the ATMs onsite.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to experience a unique slice of Dutch culture and community spirit right here in Oregon.
The event is held at Visitation Church, 4285 NW Visitation Rd. in Forest Grove. For more details on the full menu, prices and schedule, visit the event website.
