The Forest Park Conservancy has a variety of experiences planned for people of all skill levels, including family-friendly activities. Enjoy yoga in the park, ivy basket weaving, a photography hike and more.

Wildwood Welcome Party at Forest Park
The Wildwood Welcome Party is Friday, June 17, and Saturday, June 18. Free activities take place at various locations throughout Forest Park.
Parking is limited at Forest Park’s trailheads. Organizers are rewarding participants who arrive by carpool, public transit, bike or on foot with an entry for a special raffle prize.

Friday, June 17
Zine-Making from 10 a.m.-noon
Independent Publishing Resource Center is hosting a two-hour outdoor writing workshop about the form and practice of zine-making, a mode of self-publishing that takes a piece of folded paper, a pen, and your creativity.
Forest Park Nature Adventure from 4-6 p.m.
Head to the Lower Macleay Park trailhead (one of Portland’s best urban parks!) to pick up a copy of the Forest Park Nature Adventure. Learn about native plants and Indigenous history, experience Forest Park from a new perspective, and immerse yourself in nature with your family or friends.
Kickoff Party from 5-8 p.m.
Raise a glass to the Wildwood Welcome Party at Sasquatch Brewing’s NW Taphouse, 2531 NW 30th Ave. At the event, learn about the weekend activities, meet representatives from partner organizations and check out Forest Park Conservancy’s work.
Sasquatch Brewing is offering a 15% discount to anyone who attends and says they are with the Forest Park Conservancy’s Wildwood Welcome Party.
Pride Shake-Out Run from 5:30-7 p.m.
Join Portland Frontrunners, Trail Mixed Collective, NIKE Trail and the Forest Park Conservancy for shake-out run before Pride in Forest Park. Learn about safety in Forest Park, tips for running on the trails, and what’s ideal to do the day before your race from NIKE Trail pros.
Volunteer Event from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Join the brush work party as they remove debris and excess vegetation from the sides of the trails. Choose your closest trailhead: Birch, Pittock Mansion or Springville Road.
Saturday, June 18
A Morning of Mindfulness (and Yoga!) from 9-11 a.m.
Meet at the Morak Trail and join Rachael of RachDoesYoga for a morning of mindfulness and yoga. Post activity coffee is provided by Deadstock Coffee.
Volunteer Event from 9-11 a.m.

English Ivy Basket Weaving from 1-3 p.m.
Elder Celeste Whitewolf has taught numerous weaving courses and completed multiple artist residencies with the Josephy Center for Arts and Culture. She’ll guide you through the process of ivy basket weaving at the Lower Macleay Park Pavillon.
Volunteer Event from 3-5 p.m.
Join the brush work party as they remove debris and excess vegetation from the sides of the trails. Choose your closest trailhead: Birch, Thundercrest or Springville Road.
Birding in Forest Park from 4-6 p.m.
At the Aspen Trailhead, join FPC and Sam Dejarnett, bird expert and host of the Always be Birdin’ podcast, on a 2-mile guided hike through Forest Park. Don’t forget your binoculars.
Summer Light Photo Hike from 6-9 p.m.
At the Lower Macleay Park Trailhead, meet local photographer Dan Hawk and staff from Forest Park Conservancy and Pro Photo Supply, for an evening photo hike and learn to take advantage of the beautiful summer light. Bring whatever camera you have, whether it is a professional-grade camera, a classic film camera, or your phone.
Wrap-Up Party from 6-8 p.m.
Celebrate the end of the Wildwood Welcome Party at Sasquatch Brewing’s NW Taphouse, 2531 NW 30th Ave. The brewery is offering a 15% discount to anyone who attends and says they are with the Forest Park Conservancy’s Wildwood Welcome Party.
