All aboard for fall colors! The Chelatchie Prairie Railroad Fall Leaves Train Ride returns October 17-18, 2026, taking passengers on a scenic journey through the forests and countryside of northern Clark County, Washington.

Departing from Yacolt, about an hour from Portland, this vintage train excursion offers a different way to enjoy the changing leaves. Along the way, you’ll travel through a historic rock tunnel, take in views of the Lewis River and stop to explore a waterfall.

It’s a fun fall outing for families, train enthusiasts and anyone looking to enjoy autumn scenery without hiking miles to see it.

Chelatchie Prairie Railroad Fall Leaves Train Ride

The 2026 Fall Leaves Train Ride takes place Saturday, October 17, and Sunday, October 18.

The excursion travels along a historic railroad through the foothills of southwest Washington, where forests, rolling hills and changing leaves provide plenty of scenery.

Passengers can enjoy the views from indoor or outdoor seating, including covered cabooses and an open-air railcar. Dress for the weather, especially if you plan to ride outside.

Highlights of the journey include:

• Traveling through a 330-foot tunnel carved through solid rock.
• Enjoying elevated views of the East Fork of the Lewis River.
• Stopping at Moulton Station, where passengers can visit Yacolt Falls.
• Taking in the fall foliage along the railroad’s scenic route.

The railroad is operated entirely by volunteers who maintain the trains and keep this piece of local railway history running.

2026 Schedule and Ticket Prices

The Fall Leaves Train Ride is scheduled for October 17-18, 2026.

The railroad’s published 2026 schedule lists departures at noon and 2:30 p.m. on both days.

Ticket prices for this special event are:

• Adults: $24
• Military and seniors ages 60+: $23
• Children ages 3-12: $18
• Children under 3 riding on a lap: Free

Location and Tickets

The train departs from 207 N. Railroad Ave., Yacolt, WA 98675.

Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before departure to pick up your tickets and get ready to board.

Parking is available near the station, on the north side of Yacolt Road, west of the railroad tracks.
