Join Día de los Muertos celebrations happening throughout Portland.
Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a multi-day holiday involving family and friends gathering to pay respect and remember friends and family members who have died. The celebration invites those who have passed away to come back for a visit with special offerings on vibrant altars decorated with portraits, candles, food, marigolds, skulls and beautiful colors.
Locations across the city are hosting cultural celebrations on various dates.

2024 Día de los Muertos Events in Portland
Beaverton City Library
On Saturday, November 2, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., head to the library for a teen art show, contribute to a community art piece and take home a craft kit to celebrate Día de los Muertos.
All ages are welcome at this free event. Beaverton City Library is at 12375 SW 5th St. in Beaverton.
Conestoga Recreation and Aquatic Center
Head to Beaverton’s Conestoga Recreation and Aquatic Center on Saturday, November 2, from 3 to 7 p.m. for the Día de los Muertos Festival. Enjoy food, dance, traditions and connection with the community.
This event is free and open to all. Conestoga Recreation and Aquatic Center is at 9985 SW 125th Ave. in Beaverton.
Esther Short Park
On Saturday, October 19, from 2 to 8 p.m., Luminarias Dia De Muertos, organized by the Vancouver Ballet Folklórico, invites the community to experience beautiful luminarias, traditional Mexican dancing, live music, guest artists, catrinas and activities for all ages.
This event is free. Esther Short Park is at 605 Esther Street in Vancouver ,Washington.
Forest Lawn Cemetery & Mausoleum
On Friday, November 1 at 4-9 p.m., enjoy food, face painting, an altar, dancers, a mariachi band and more at Forest Lawn Cemetery & Mausoleum, 400 SW Walters Dr. in Gresham. This event is free.
Gresham Arts Plaza
Join the Gresham Center for the Arts Foundation at the Gresham Arts Plaza on November 1, from 4-8 p.m. for a Dia de los Muertos celebration. Here’s what you can expect:
- Live performances by Band Perla de Michoacan, Danza Azteca and Ballet Folklorico.
- Participate in family-friendly crafts.
- Get dinner and treats from food carts onsite.
The Gresham Arts Plaza is at 401 NE 2nd St. in Gresham. This event is free to attend.
M&M Marketplace
Join a Día de Muertos celebration with pan de muerto, champurrado, trick or treating, festive music and more on November 2 from 3 to 6 p.m. This event is free to attend.
M&M Marketplace is at 346 SW Walnut St. in Hillsboro.
MESO Makers Market
On Sunday, November 3, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., stop by the Dia de los Muertos Mercado celebration. This free event features Hispanic artisans, live music, traditional food and more.
MESO Makers Market is at 376 NE Sumner St. in Portland.
Zenger Farm
On Saturday, November 2, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., join chef Paula at Zenger Farm for a Día de los Muertos celebration including fun family activities, delicious traditional Mexican foods and a commemoration of loved ones who have passed on.
Here’s the activities:
- Oaxacan cusine
- Live performances
- Marigold harvesting
- A community altar
- Face painting
This event has a sliding scale admission structure from $5-$100 per family. Zenger Farm is at 11741 SE Foster Rd. in Portland.
