Celebrate the first day of Spring on the farm! Zenger Farm is hosting family-friendly activities during Open Farm Day.
Zenger Farm is a 24-acre combined farm and wetland in southeast Portland. The urban farm hosts educational activities in a natural environment. Their programs teach kids and adults the importance of food, farming, wetland conservation and environmental stewardship.
During Open Farm Day, bring your family and friends to Zenger Farm for hands-on activities, self-guided farm tours and delicious food. When you arrive, you’ll check-in, review safety protocols, and pick up your interactive farm map and scavenger hunt.
Explore freely for up to an hour and a half while enjoying three staffed activity stations:
- Tea Making: The booth will be sharing Zenger Farm’s organically grown fresh herbs from our garden, which you can use to make your own delicious tea combinations.
- Gardening: Spring means it’s time to finally dig in and get your hands dirty! You’ll be able to help in our gardens with adult and kid-friendly activities, like planting spring seeds, mulching garden paths, weeding, etc.
- Painting & Planting: Bring out your inner artist and decorate your own pots with bright paints. Once the pot is finished, you can plant from variety of seeds to take home.
Before visiting, you will need to reserve your spot online. You’ll choose between the 1-2:30 p.m. and 3-4:30 p.m. time slots. Zenger Farm’s Open Farm Day is free to attend. Yet if you can pay, there is an option to add a sliding scale donation for admittance to this event, starting at $5 per family or group.
