Gather with your fellow Goth community at the 10th annual Portland Goth Float.
This annual event invites locals to a fun day floating the Clackamas River. Put on your best goth bathing suit and accessories for a one-of-a-kind day spent outdoors.
Here are the details about the 2024 float.
2024 Portland Goth Float
The 2024 Portland Goth Float is Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The float travels 4.5 miles from Barton Park to Carver Park. The float will take around five hours.
From 10-11:30 a.m., park at Barton Park and follow the road to the boat ramp. This is the event meeting point. The parking lot is likely to reach capacity so get there early and carpool with friends. While waiting for the float to start, get your tube inflated and your belongings packed.
The float begins at noon. Halfway through the float, the group will stop for a lunch break.
Item List
To prepare for the event, here’s a list of recommended items to pack:
- Float tube suitable for a river. You can rent a tube with an air pump from Oregon River Rentals. The organizers recommend river tubes and a patch kit. Swimming pool tubes may pop when scraping on rocks in the shallow areas of the river.
- Water proof bag for belongings.
- Water shoes.
- Paddle.
- Food and beverages.
- Sunscreen.
- Life vests for small children and anyone else who needs one.
The event starts at Barton Park, 19009 SE Barton Park Rd. in Boring and ends at Carver Park, 14888 S Springwater Rd. in Oregon City. This event is free except for parking, $8 at each park.
There is no shuttle service running between Barton and Carver parks this year. Coordinate with friends to leave a second vehicle at Carver Park, take an Uber back or connect with people in the Facebook event discussion.
